Slack

Connect Slack with Salescaling for automatic alerts and a conversational assistant in channels and direct messages.

Slack

The integration with Slack allows your team to receive alerts when meetings, calls, or voice notes are processed, and to query Salescaling from Slack using an assistant that responds with your user permissions.

1. What you can do with Slack

With Slack connected, you can:

  • Receive alerts in specific channels when the processing of a meeting, call, or voice note is complete.
  • Ask the assistant in channels (by mentioning the bot) or via direct message.
  • Continue the conversation in the same thread without re-tagging the bot in each message.
  • Map users when the Slack email does not match the Salescaling email.

2. Prerequisites

Before connecting Slack, ensure that:

  1. You have an administrator role in Salescaling (the OAuth connection is performed by a tenant admin).
  2. You have permissions in Slack to install applications in the workspace.
  3. Each person who wants to use the bot has an active user in Salescaling with the same email as in Slack, or a manual mapping configured by an administrator.

3. Connect the workspace

Steps to connect Slack:

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations.
  2. In the Messaging section, locate the Slack card and click Connect Slack.
  3. Authorize the application on the Slack screen.
  4. Once complete, you will see the connected workspace (team name and active status).

Only one active Slack workspace can be connected per organization in Salescaling.

To disconnect, use Disconnect on the same page. Alert rules with Slack delivery will stop being sent until you reconnect.

4. Invite the bot to a channel

To test @mentions in a channel, the bot must be in that channel:

  1. Open the channel in Slack.
  2. Run /invite @Salescaling (or the name your installation displays).
  3. Mention the bot with a question, for example: @Salescaling What was my last meeting?

5. User mapping

The assistant identifies each person by their Salescaling account. Resolution follows this order:

  1. Existing thread — if you have already spoken in that thread, your identity is maintained.
  2. Manual mapping — if an administrator linked your Slack user to your Salescaling user.
  3. Email match — if the Slack email matches the Salescaling email.

When manual mapping is needed

  • The email in Slack is different from the one registered in Salescaling.
  • You use an alias or shared account in Slack.

Where to configure it

In Settings > Integrations > Slack, User identity mapping section: assign each Salescaling user to the corresponding Slack member.

6. Alerts in Slack

Automatic notifications are configured in Settings > Notifications > Alerts tab.

For each rule, you can:

  • Choose the event type (meeting processed, call processed, voice note processed, etc.).
  • Activate or deactivate the rule.
  • Select the target Slack channel.
  • Apply filters (e.g., only certain meetings or teams).

Default rules are created when connecting Slack; you can edit them and assign a channel whenever you want.

7. Assistant in Slack

Channel mentions

Mention the bot in a channel where it is invited. It will respond in the thread of your message. You can continue typing in that thread without re-tagging it.

Direct messages

If direct messages are enabled, you can chat 1:1 with Salescaling with the same capabilities as in a channel.

Correct flow:

  1. Open Salescaling in the Slack sidebar (or go to Direct messages and open the conversation with the app).
  2. Type your question without @Salescaling, for example: hello or what was my last meeting?

In a DM with the app, Slack does not send app_mention; it sends a message.im event. That's why it's not necessary (nor useful) to tag the bot in direct messages.

ContextHow to writeEvent Salescaling receives
Channel@Salescaling What was my last meeting?app_mention
DM with the appWhat was my last meeting? (without @)message.im
Thread already started with the botReply in the thread without re-taggingmessage (reply)

Identity and permissions

The bot responds as you in Salescaling: it only sees meetings, contacts, and data to which your user has access. It does not share information between users or between organizations.

Thread history

The assistant uses the latest messages in the thread to maintain conversation context. Very old messages in the thread are not taken into account.

8. What the bot can answer

It depends on the mode configured by your administrator:

ModeWhat it includes
Tenant data (recommended)Meetings, calls, contacts, CRM, product documentation, and web search, adapted for Slack (without charts or in-app navigation).
Documentation onlyQuestions about how to use Salescaling and product help; no access to your commercial data.

You can ask directly: “What can you do?” or “How can you help me?” and the assistant will respond with a clear list of capabilities.

Examples of useful questions:

  • “What was my last meeting?”
  • “Summarize last week's meeting with Acme.”
  • “How do I set up alerts in Slack?”
  • “Search for contacts in the CRM with a decision-maker role.”

9. Advanced configuration (administrators)

Options such as responding to @mentions, responding in DMs, and using tenant data are managed by the Salescaling administration team from the admin panel (not from the client app).

From the admin, you can also review:

  • User mappings Slack ↔ Salescaling.
  • Tenant alert rules.
  • Assistant toggles.

If you need to change these settings, contact your account administrator or support.

10. Security and privacy

  • Each response uses the verified identity of the user typing in Slack.
  • A thread is tied to the user who initiated it; another person cannot continue it with their account.
  • Data never crosses between organizations (tenants).
  • Requests to Slack are signed and verified by Salescaling.

11. Frequently Asked Questions

The bot does not respond in a thread without @mention

It only continues threads where there has already been an interaction with the bot (initial mention or DM). Loose messages in an unrelated thread do not activate the assistant.

It says it cannot verify my account

Check that your email in Slack matches Salescaling or ask an admin to configure manual mapping in Settings > Integrations > Slack.

Alerts are not reaching the channel

Check in Settings > Notifications > Alerts that the rule is activated, has a Slack channel assigned, and that the filters match the event.

After a change in Slack permissions, the bot stops working

It may be necessary to disconnect and reconnect Slack from Settings > Integrations to renew the application's permissions (scopes).

Can I use Slack and the web app simultaneously?

Yes. The web app assistant and the Slack assistant share the same data logic, but each Slack thread maintains its own conversation in Slack.
